So Close

Caleb and I played a basketball semi-final tonight... a tough game which went all the way down to the wire. While we lost by one point (50-51) on the last basket of the game, we weren't unhappy. Given a conflict in schedules, making the Grand Final would have been impossible for either of us, which would have left the team short. It has reached the stage where I am the one making up numbers, and Caleb is in the forefront. It is a joy to watch.

Premiers!

Rachel's basketball team stormed the Grand Final yesterday, bolting away in the first half before winning 23-18 against Eltham. The girls played ferocious defence and patient offense to cap a fine performance and do what no VFL/AFL team could ever do in the old final four system - win a Premiership from third place.

The girls played most games with only five or six players, and played a magnificent finals series. Celebrations followed!

Caleb's Championship Debut

Caleb made his championship debut for Bulleen Boomers last Friday night, playing in the Spring phase of practice games. He rose to the challenge, playing some strong defence, taking some good rebounds, dishing off a couple of assists, and scoring some baskets of his own. The team managed to turn around a 4-17 start to win by 14.

Basketball Champions!

Congratulations to Rachel's Bulleen BT8 team who capped an undefeated season yesterday with a 38-34 win against a valiant Banyule team in their U11 B1 grand final. The girls were all brilliant - a great team!!
